Dr. Melika Azari, N.D

 

Dr. Melika Azari is Naturopathic doctor with a primary focus in mental health. She is a graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, which is one of five accredited Naturopathic Medical Schools in North America. Prior to her four years of Naturopathic Medical School, she completed an Honours Science Degree in Psychology at the University of Toronto. Upon finishing her academic training, she completed clinical internships at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic and the Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre. In addition, she was one of six students who were hand selected to complete a focus shift in Naturopathic Mental Health. This additional training helped further her knowledge and experience in the clinical management and treatment of various mental health conditions. In addition to her primary focus on Mental Health, other areas of clinical interest include Brain Health, Stress Management (including burnout and fatigue), Skin Health, Digestive Health, Cardiovascular Health, Diabetes, Fertility, and the general optimization of Overall Health.

Dr. Melika approaches each patient with an individualized and evidence based approach. She believes in being an advocate for her patients and empowering them to take an active role in every step of their health journey. Her clinical philosophy is to work with her patients as partners and to establish treatment plans and health goals as a team. Her number one priority in patient care is to foster a respectful, compassionate, and caring environment where patient-doctor collaboration results in creative, practical, and effective treatment plans that are unique to each patient. She employs various treatment modalities such as acupuncture/traditional Chinese medicine, botanical medicine, clinical nutrition (including nutraceutical prescriptions), homeopathic remedies, counselling, and dietary and lifestyle changes. Her patient promise is to help her patients feel that their voice is heard, they are actively involved in their own healing journey, and that they are supported throughout every step. In addition, her emphasis on achieving optimal health helps her identify triggers or external factors that may be negatively contributing to various clinical presentations.

Dr. Melika is registered and in good standing with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND), the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), and the Psychiatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians (PsychANP).
